The IFATCC (International Federation of Textile Chemists and Colourists) is an umbrella organization representing the interests of 12 national textile associations from Austria (VÖTC), the Czech Republic (STChK), Denmark (SKEFA), France (ACIT), Hungary (TMTE), Italy (AICTC), Spain (AEQCT), Japan, Romania (SDCR), Poland (SPChK), Great Britain (sdc) and Germany (VDTF). The international conference of the IFATCC takes place every 3rd year, including high-quality technical lectures as well as a social program for networking. In 2023 the 26th IFATCC Conference will be organized by the VDTF in Augsburg, Germany.

Augsburg has a long history in producing textiles from the fiber along all the production steps to ready to use clothing. In more than 2.000 years changed the importance of the textile industry more and more to research and development of technology optimizing processes in
many other industries.
Since 1970 the University was founded with in the meanwhile about 90 different courses. With regards on the most forward looking water channel system Augsburg received world heritage 3 years ago.

In diesem Jahr wird die 26. Internationale IFATCC Konferenz vom VDTF in Augsburg organisiert. Die Konferenz des Dachverbandes wird alle 3 Jahre in einem der jeweiligen Partnerländer abgehalten und bietet eine Plattform für hochwertige Fachbeiträge sowie Gelegenheit zum Netzwerken.

Augsburg blickt auf eine mehr als 2000-jährige Geschichte zurück und war vor allem ab dem 19. Jahrhundert bedeutend in der Herstellung von Textilien, entlang der gesamten textilen Kette. Zunehmend gewann die Forschung und Entwicklung von weiteren Industriezweigen an Bedeutung, unterstützt von optimierter Prozesssteuerung in den neuen Industriezweigen.
Seit 1970 ist Augsburg Universitätsstadt mit inzwischen 90 Studiengängen.
Bezüglich der fortschrittlich angelegten Kanäle für die Wasserversorgung in der Stadt erhielt Augsburg das Prädikat Welterbe.
